Karachi: Yousuf Haroons demise, city govt. announces holiday

Former Mayor of Karachi Yousuf Haroon passed away yesterday, after which the city government of Karachi announced a local holiday in educational other institutions; where as the Sindh government has announced to keep educational institutions open. Conflicting announcements have confused the citizens of Karachi.

Administrator Karachi Fazal-ur-Rehman announced on Wednesday night to keep the offices and educational institutions closed upon Yousuf Haroon’s demise in the areas of KDA, Malir Development Authority, and Layari Development Authority. After this announcement, the local TV channels tried to gain information from Sindh government for confirmation of this local holiday. After an hour passed, Chief Minister Sindh’s spokesperson Waqar Mehdi announced that all educational institutions falling under Sindh government will remain open.
