Letter to NAB requests transfer of cases regarding provincial departments to anti-corruption court

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government issued a notification on Thursday revoking National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Ordinance 1999.

The government wrote a letter to NAB, asking transfer of all cases against provincial departments to anti-corruption court. The step is aimed at giving leverage to ministers and bureaucratic officials alleged of corruption.

Notification was issued by the law department and Sindh Assembly gave directions to publish the new act of Sindh anti-corruption agency. The government has asked NAB to transfer a total of 500 corruption cases, inquiries and references to the anti-corruption court.

Preparations have been made to establish NAB’s alternative. Sindh Accountability Agency Bill 2017 has already been passed by the provincial parliament.
