Afghan Ambassador to Pak meets COAS to discuss security matters

Omar Zakhilwal, Gen Qamar Bajwa discussed issues regarding border management and security

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Afghanistan s Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday to discuss security situation and border management at General Headquarters.

Both discussed issues of mutual interest. Gen Bajwa expressed grief at the loss of innocent lives in recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, including the suicide attack which killed at least 29 killed in Afghan Shiite mosque attack. They exchanged words to improve border security and develop meaningful relations between both countries.

Meanwhile, army chief was presented the honour and ranks of Colonel in Chief of Baloch Regiment at two-day Baloch Regiment Conference in Abbotabad. Gen Bajwa lauded the contribution of Baloch Regiment and called it one of the most decorated regiments with sterling performance over the past years, according to ISPR.

Army chief laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay homage to martyrs of Baloch Regiment for laying their lives for defence of motherland. He praised the sacrifices of the Shuhada and assured their families that the army will never forget those who gave their blood to defend and strengthen the nation. 

He said Pakistan Army will continue its efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism and to ensure that the borders remain secure.
