5 Pakistani companies make Forbes 200 'Best under a Billion' list

5 Pakistani Companies made it to Forbes "200 Best under a Billion" list
(Web Desk) - Forbes Magazine recently revealed its 2017 ‘Asia’s 200 Best under a Billion’ list which comprises of Asia-Pacific companies that have less than $1 Billion in revenue with consistent growth.
Five of Pakistan’s public companies also made it to the list including Agriauto Industries, Cherat Packaging, Ferozsons Laboratories, Ghandhara Industries and Searle Company.
“Most did so by thinking globally. Only 70 of these small- to medium-sized enterprises generated revenue solely within the region”, said Forbes Magazine about companies on the list.
Although last year seven of Pakistan’s companies managed to make space in the list, Ferozsons Laboratories did a great job by appearing among Best under a Billion for the second time in a row.
According to Forbes, this year’s candidates emerged from 13 countries around Asia and averaged 55% growth in sales, a 24% profit margin, and 113% growth in earnings per share, indicating its success in a consumer economy
China dominated the list with over 70 entries while Japan was also notable in its efforts with 38 companies. India, however, came down to three entries from eleven. “But its Manpasand Beverages is a garage-to-great champion that is the hallmark of our list” claims Forbes Magazine.
As far as methodology is concerned, Forbes short-listed companies with revenue between $5 million and $1billion, out of which around 875 companies passed the profitability, growth, and modest indebtedness criteria out of which top 200 were identified.
“We excluded companies thinly traded, those trading less than a year, and those with worrisome accounting, management, ownership or legal troubles,” Forbes explained.
