Chaudhry chaired a meeting of executive board of NAB in the headquarters today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is getting on with complying with order of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) as its chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry presided over a meeting of top officials on Monday who approved filing four references against Sharif family in the court.

Chaudhry chaired a meeting of executive board of NAB in the headquarters today.

According to the notification issued, the bureau is to file references against Nawaz Sharif, his children, son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar and finance minister Ishaq Dar.

Reportedly, evidence that is already available with the accountability authority and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would be made part of the references along with fresh data.

The development has come in three days after the top court ordered NAB to file five references against the former first family of Pakistan.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the election commission on July 28 after the apex court found him violating Article 62 and Article 63.

Pakistan is to elect a fresh prime minister on Tuesday as President Mamnoon Hussain has summoned a session of the lower House.

After the federal cabinet was dissolved, former oil minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was nominated by PML-N to be appointed as the interim premier for a period of 45 days after which, as decided by the executive body of the political party, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif will contest elections for premiership.

It should be noted here that spokesperson for the Punjab government Malik Ahmed Ali cleared today that there was no legal complication for the Punjab CM to contest NA-128 elections for premiership.

However, he said that in case he wins, he is bound by the law to give up one office.
