'We are not bound to accept JIT's findings': Justice Ijazul Hassan
(Web Desk) – Supreme Court (SC) conducted its first hearing of Panamagate on Monday since Joint Investigation Team (JIT) filed its report on July 10 over probe of first family’s assets and businesses, and here is all you should know about it.
Judge says not bound to accept JIT’s report
Justice Ijazul Hassan who is leading the three-member bench of the top court in the case remarked that the SC is not bound to accept JIT’s report as the truth and deliver a verdict in its sole accordance.
Justice Ijazul Hassan remarked that we are not bound to accept JIT findings.
Petitioners’ counsels conclude arguments
Counsels for the petitioners concluded their arguments in today’s hearing. Naeem Bokhari presented his arguments from PTI’s side, Sheikh Rasheed presented his stance and counsel for Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) also concluded his arguments.
Justice Ejaz asked the PTI lawyer whether the Qatari story narrated by Sharif family is self-made or its prince’s letter is bogus or not over which Bokhari said both are false.
PM, Ishaq Dar file objections
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and finance minister Ishaq Dar filed their objections on the JIT in the top court today. The premier has complained about behaviour of the official belonging to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Premier s family has contested that the JIT collected incomplete data to reach any conclusion.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM) chief Dr Farooq Sattar and senior representative of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Daniyal Aziz among others attended the hearing today.
Adjourned
The hearing was adjourned today as counsel for the premier s family presented his arguments owing to expiration of the due time of court s proceedings.
The three-member bench is set to resume the hearing tomorrow (July 18).
