A contempt of court case was lodged against the former member of the ruling party last month
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has indicted former senator Nehal Hashmi on Monday in a contempt of court case that was taken up under suo moto action last month.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (SJP) Saqib Nisar had taken notice of Hashmi’s tirade against the judiciary and the Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) last month.
A contempt of court case was lodged against the former member of the ruling party.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had revoked membership of Hashmi after his attacking speech on occasion of Youm-e-Takbir May 28 in a ceremony.
Hashmi stated in a media talk following his first hearing in the top court that he respects the judges and the constitution.
He alleged Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief of pursuing the corruption references against the first family of Pakistan with ill-motives.
