Several people in Karachi are living dangerously in precarious buildings that could collapse anytime.

There are thousands of old and new buildings serving the residential and financial needs of the habitants of the metropolis. The flats built to accommodate the increasing population have turned the city into a concrete forest. Many old buildings in the city have become deteriorated and the Karachi Building Control Authority has issued notices for their abandonment. According to the KBCA, 176 buildings in Sadar, Kharadar, Lyari and Soldier Bazar and other areas of Karachi have become deteriorated. Poor material and illegal construction have already caused many buildings collapses in the city.
