Humanity prevails: Sushma Swaraj promises visa for sick Pakistani kid
Gestures like these on both sides of the border are rare, but not unheard of.
(Web Desk) – Against the backdrop of mounting tensions between India and Pakistan, an unexpectedly humane gesture has been witnessed on part of India. Apparently, the prevailing hostilities between the two countries have not prevented India’s Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj from trying to help a father get a visa for his two-and-a-half-year baby for his treatment in India.
A Pakistani national, with the Twitter username Ken Sid, tweeted a plea on May 24 to Pakistani Minister for Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Sushma Swaraj, asking for help for his son’s medical treatment. Apparently, the kid had been unable to secure a visa for his medical treatment in India.

On Wednesday, Sushma Swaraj replied to the tweet and in a surprising gesture of kindness, tweeted, “No. The child will not suffer. Pls contact Indian High Commission in Pakistan. We will give the medical visa.

Sushma’s gesture was met with a grateful tweet from Ken, who thanked her for all her efforts and rightly pointed out that humanity prevails despite many differences.
It is heartening to see humanity prevailing despite many differences. Thank you all for your efforts.

Humanity prevails!
God Bless everyone!
Gestures like these on both sides of the border are rare, but not unheard of. Sushma Swaraj had last week thanked the Pakistani judiciary and establishment for making the return of Indian national Uzma Ahmed possible. Uzma had alleged that she had been forced to marry a Pakistani man at gunpoint while on a visit to Pakistan. Sushma Swaraj had especially appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Foreign Office and Justice Mohsin Kayani of the Islamabad High Court for making Uzma’s return possible.
Earlier in January, Pakistan sent back an Indian soldier who had crossed the Line of Control. The soldier, Chandu Babulal Chohan, who was stationed in Indian Held Kashmir, had reportedly deserted his post due to grievances about mistreatment at the hands of his seniors. The Inter Services Public Relations had said that as a gesture of goodwill, Chohan had been convinced to return to his country. The soldier was later handed over to Indian authorities on humanitarian grounds.
Such examples are evident of the fact that even amidst rising tensions between the arch rivals, humanity does prevail and both people on both sides are more than ready to make gestures to increase goodwill and harmony between the two countries.
