Farooq Sattar released after brief detention

MQM Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar was released by police in Karachi.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) leader Farooq Sattar was released by police after brief detention on late Friday night, Dunya News reported.
Police had arrested Farooq Sattar from Shahra-e-Faisal when he was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony. Farooq Sattar was taken into custody in a case over hate speech and incidents of violence in Karachi on August 22 last year.
Police sources said that Farooq Sattar was declared an absconder in 15 cases. Police had shifted Farooq Sattar to Chakiwara Police Station.
Sources said that MQM Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar was released on the directives of Sindh government.
Farooq Sattar reached the temporary headquarters on MQM Pakistan in PIB Colony soon after his release where he addressed a press conference.
Dr Farooq Sattar informed media persons that he was taken into custody by police when he was returning from a wedding ceremony. He was shifted to Chakiwara Police Station from where he was released after an hour of questioning.
Farooq Sattar said that cases against him and his party workers related to anti-state speech by MQM founder on Aug 22 must be withdrawn and all innocent MQM workers should be released from jails.
He further said that MQM Pakistan’s August 23-2016 stance should be accepted. We have rejected anti-Pakistan slogans.
MQM activists staged protest in Hyderabad over arrest of Farooq Sattar and chanted slogans against the authorities.
Reportedly, large number of MQM workers participated in the protest.
