Pakistan, Afghanistan agree to de-escalate tensions

LONDON (Dunya News) – Dr. Omar Zakhilwal, Afghan ambassador to Pakistan has on Monday revealed through his recent social media post that the top-level dialogues between Pakistan and Afghanistan in London were beneficial and positive.

He let it be known that that both the countries have agreed to deescalate the recent tensions besides working out a mutual strategy to end terrorism.

"The High Level Afghanistan-Pakistan meeting that was hosted by the British Government In London with the aim to discuss and agree on a mechanism for genuine bilateral cooperation on fighting terrorism, agree on steps and measures to improve the current tense bilateral relations and mutual trust has been concluded very positively," revealed the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan.

Dr. Omar Zakhilwal further revealed that the discussions were substantive, constructive, forward-looking and resultful.

As per details, the negotiations were carried out between the higher officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan in London.

Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz represented Pakistan while Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani on National Security Mohammad Hanif Atmar represented Afghanistan during the high-level dialogues.
