Islamabad: Shahid Kamal to be appointed as Foreign Secretary
The government has decided to appoint Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir as the new Indian High Commissioner. Pakistani Ambassador to Germany Shahid Kamal will be appointed as Foreign Secretary.According to the sources Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir is being changed and will be appointed as High Commissioner in India while Pakistan Ambassador in Germany Shahid Kamal will be appointed as Foreign Secretary. The sources confirmed that Pakistans Ambassador in Saudi Arabia Umer Khan Ali Sherzai, who made headlines in the media about Hajj Scam, is also being replaced and in his place Additional Secretary Ishtiaq Hussain Andrabi is being posted as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Additional Secretary in the Foreign Ministry Mohammad Aslam is being appointed as Ambassador to Algeria, Director General Amjad Abbasi as Ambassador to Syria, Director General Tehmina Janjua as Ambassador in Switzerland and Director General Sarfraz Khanzada is being posted in Qatar. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has approved one year extension in the service of Pakistani Ambassador in France Shafqat Saeed. He was to retire this month on superannuation. New Foreign Secretary Shahid Kamal is s a seasoned and experienced diplomat and had earlier represented Pakistan in Sweden, Finland and other countries.
