Interior Ministry termed Sindh govt's demand to act against seminaries as political point scoring

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Interior Ministry has on Thursday responded to the demand of Sindh government to act against certain seminaries, terming it a move to score political points and concealment of its own mistakes, reported Dunya News.

In its response, the ministry has stated that Sindh government neither identified the suspicious seminaries, nor did it share any kind of evidence. It said that the provincial government didn’t highlight the reasons for suspecting the seminaries nor did it give any recommendations, while even the names of the seminaries located outside Karachi or Sukkur were not mentioned.

The letter by the interior ministry said that many of the seminaries identified in the Sindh government’s letter were located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

It went on to state that the Sindh government officials had apparently written the letter in order to score political points and conceal its own shortcomings.

The provincial government has been asked why it hadn’t acted against these seminaries if it had some evidence, while it was not only its authority but also its responsibility.
