Petrol smuggled from Iran: Petroleum Secretary
The secretary admitted diesel adulteration with kerosene oil and tracker removal from oil tankers
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The business of selling diesel mixed with kerosene oil has reached a new high, reported Dunya News on Thursday.
Secretary Petroleum Arshad Mirza has admitted in front of Senate committee that big investors are involved in the illegal business of adulterated diesel.
Senate members expressed severe anger upon knowing that trackers are removed from oil tankers in Balochistan. Also, petrol is being smuggled from Iran.
“Even till date, diesel is adulterated by mixing kerosene oil in it”, Arshad Mirza told the committee. He added, “Big names are involved in this business”.
The Petroleum Secretary suggested that many people started mixing kerosene oil in diesel to become rich while we are now using marker chemical to stop the adulteration.
The chairman of Senate committee Yousaf Badini and member Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani, both belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), raised the matter of petroleum smuggling from Iran and removal of trackers from oil tankers in Balochistan.
