Committee headed by ex-HC judge to probe 'fabricated news': Interior Minister
Inquiry committee will be formed within next two days, said the interior minister.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Saturday said that an inquiry committee to probe fabricated news issue will be formed within next two days. He said a former high court judge will lead the committee.
The minister further clarified the inquiry is not aimed at targeting former information minister Pervaiz Rashid.
Last week, in a startling development, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed was asked to step down from his post.
"The planted story related to the NSC and NAP meetings published in Daily Dawn on 6th October was a breach of national security. Evidence available so far points to a lapse on part of Information Minister, who has been directed to step down from office to enable holding of an independent and detailed inquiry," the government had stated in a press release.
It was further stated that an inquiry committee including senior officers of ISI, MI and IB was being formed by the Government of Pakistan to clear apportion blame, identify interests and motives and expose all those responsible for this episode for stern action in the national interest.
