PAC orders report on Rs.14 billion relief funds

It has been learnt during a session of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that Rs.14.25 billion of foreign aid have bot been used. The committee ordered a report on the matter. Audit officials, while briefing PAC, said that only Rs. 7.60 billion have been used out of Rs. 21.84 billion pf the aggregate foreign aid. Officials of the economic affairs division said that WAPDA, NHA, Pakistan Railways and other public sector organizations could not use the foreign aid on account of having inadequate capability of using it. Member of the committee Yasmin Rehman said that on one hand foreign aid is being wasted due to negligence and on the other hand fresh loans are being taken. PAC directed the concerned officials to submit report on the issue in a period of one month.
