Security of CPEC projects vital: Murad Ali Shah

A dedicated security division has been setup by the federal government for the purpose: Sindh CM

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah has said that security of projects being constructed under the umbrella of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is vital and the government is attending to the requirements.

A meeting was convened by the Chief Minister in Sindh Secretariat with an agenda to discuss the $46 billion investment of neighbouring China in Pakistan.

Chief Secretary, Sindh Police Inspector General, Murtaza Wahab, Home Secretary and other dignitaries attended the meeting.

While addressing the participants, Murad Ali Shah said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would put Pakistan on track to fast-paced progress which is why security of the projects was a big concern.

A dedicated security division has been setup by the federal government for the purpose, he said.

Shah said that there are supposed to be six wings in the division which would comprise of around 4,502 personnel of army as well as civil forces.

During ongoing term of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he entered an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping of the historic foreign investment in Pakistan over a course of coming years.

Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif vowed to provide for complete protection of the projects.

Earlier this year, an Indian spy was caught in Balochistan who confessed to have been tasked with surveillance of CPEC and funding terrorists for unrest in Karachi and other parts.
