Standing committee orders probe in Dr. Asim's leaked video case

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee on Tuesday has ordered investigation into Dr. Asim’s leaked video case filmed during his detention while Sindh Additional Inspector General of Police (IG) was ordered to investigate that how did this video got leaked and reached to media instead of court, reported Dunya News.

Along with the police, Sindh government had also been ordered to investigate the case by the committee while Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) also presented the list of TV channels that aired the video.

In a session convened by Committee Convener Imran Zafar Laghari, PEMRA officials told him that 20 TV channels broadcasted the leaked video. Committee also called on Sindh Additional IG and directed him to investigate and submit the report in 10 days.

The subcommittee praised the very initiative taken by PEMRA officials and stated that equitable practices regarding TV channels should be improved.
