PAT leader Ishtiaq Chaudhry had approached the anti-corruption watchdog on the issue of Panama leaks

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab has refused to take action against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family, stating that evidence provided by Tahirul Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) party has failed to make any justification, Dunya News reported.

PAT leader Ishtiaq Chaudhry had approached the anti-corruption watchdog on the issue of Panama leaks.

It was stated in the complaint that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s assets abroad have been revealed in Panama Papers and he concealed these details in his nomination papers for 2013 general elections which is clear violation of article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

NAB’s assistant director rejected Awami Tehreek’s petition, stating that evidence provided by the party is not enought to hold any trial.

Nawaz Sharif has been under pressure since documents released as part of the Panama Papers data leak showed his children owned several off-shore companies and used them to buy properties in London. He denies wrongdoing, as do his children.
