Sirens sound to warn locals of flooding at Sukkur Barrage

Higher officials have also warned the natives to move to safe havens.
SUKKUR (Dunya News) – The continuous increase in water levels at Guddu and Sukkur Barrages have created alarming situation for the locals living in the adjoining areas, reported on Tuesday.
According to details, the local administration has turned the water flow direction towards small canals due to severe rise in Sindh River.
Higher officials have also warned the natives to move to safe havens but the people are not ready to leave their houses. They said that the government representatives have to take step to control the situation.
According to flood centre, the upper level of water at Sukkur Barrage has exceeded 2,38,000 cusec however, the authorities have released 1,83,000 cusec water at Kotri Barrage point as the water level there has escalated to 66,000 cusec.
The inundation of more villages is feared in coming days.
