FBR to take decisive steps against tax evaders
Experts believed that unknown accounts helped grow the undocumented economy
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The government on Monday has decided to take final measures against tax evaders while a law against unknown accounts will be presented beofre the parliament for approval by next month, reported Dunya News.
FBR sources further revealed that government had made a strategy to deal with unknown accounts. In this regard, a bill had been drafted in the budget 2016-17 which will be presented before National Assembly (NA) next month.
According to the new law, land revenue officials will be authorised to question any person over the property bought within ten years. Other than that, bank accounts of the land owner, investment in property and stock exchange will be scrutinised with strict measures.
Experts believed that unknown accounts helped grow the undocumented economy. This was the reason undocumented economy had been standing equal to documented economy.
