Right to self-determination is only the solution to Kashmir issue, says Sartaj Aziz.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Monday termed Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir as condemnable and deplorable.

Talking to Dunya News, he said such acts are violation of fundamental human rights of Kashmiris and cannot deter the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand for the realization of the right to self-determination.

Sartaj Aziz said that it has been shown by Kashmiris that they only demand freedom and liberty whereas India is continuously spreading chaos in the region.

He clarified that Pakistan is strict to its stance regarding Kashmir’s independence as no other solution is effective in this regard.

He also pledged to raise voice against Indian brutality in Kashmir at international forum.

On the other hand, five people including a teenage girl were killed in overnight clashes between protesters and government forces in India-held Kashmir after a popular separatist leader was shot dead, police said, taking the toll to 23.

The protests follow the killing on Friday of Burhan Wani, a 22-year-old alleged commander of Kashmir’s largest separatist group Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), during a gun battle with government forces.

Around 300 people have been injured, including nearly 100 police, and hospitals say they are overwhelmed. Most victims suffered gunshot wounds or teargas inhalation.
