Army Chief visits Waziristan to celebrate with troops
Eidul Fitr is being celebrated throughout the country with great religious fervour and zeal today.
RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif left for Waziristan today (Wednesday) to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on the front lines with the troops engaged in operation Zarb-e-Azb, DG ISPR Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa reported in a message posted on Twitter.

The army spokesperson also extended Eid greetings to the nation:

Eidul Fitr is being celebrated throughout the country with great religious fervour and zeal today.
It is after many years that the eid is being celebrated simultaneously across the country after the month of fasting began on the same day.
Big eid congregations were held at open places‚ mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities, towns and villages of the country.
In their sermons, Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eidul Fitr and the need to share its joys with the have-nots.
Special prayers were also offered for security, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.
In Islamabad, the main eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque where President Mamnoon Hussain offered his eid prayers.
Envoys of Islamic countries, parliamentarians and people belonging to different walks of life also offered eid prayers at the Faisal mosque.
Extending Eid greetings to the nation, the Prime Minister urged the nation to make solemn pledge on the auspicious occasion of Eid not to become part of any negative activity and work for progress and prosperity of the nation and the country.
He emphasised the need to inculcate values of tolerance, mutual accommodation, love, affection and brotherhood in our lives. He said this objective can only be achieved if we follow teachings of Islam in our lives.
Meanwhile‚ security has been beefed up in different parts of the country including the federal capital to avoid any untoward incident.
Snap checking and patrolling by law enforcing agencies have been increased.
