0.6 million children given polio vaccines because of Zarb-e-Azb: Rabbani
Raza Rabbani lauded Rotary International's efforts in Pakistan in order to wipe out polio
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Acting president Raza Rabbani on Tuesday stated that over 0.6 million children were given polio vaccines because of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, further stating that there was a substantial decrease in the cases related to the disease as a result of the government’s efforts, reported Dunya News.
While conversing with the officials belonging to the Rotary International, Rabbani expressed his hope that Pakistan shall soon become a polio-free country and lauded Rotary’s efforts in this regards.
He stated that over six hundred thousand children were given polio vaccines because of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, adding that success was achieved in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) regarding curbing of polio which was a commendable achievement.
Acting president said that polio workers did not hold back from sacrificing their lives in order to achieve a polio-free country. He added that the government was enhancing the security arrangements for the polio workers.
