Abdul Sattar Edhi shifted to SIUT
The philanthropist is expected to return home by evening today.
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Philanthropist and Edhi Foundation Chairman Abdul Sattar Edhi has been shifted to the Sindh Institute of Urology Transplantation (SIUT) to get his dialysis tube changed, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Edhi’s health worsened after getting infected during dialysis. He would undergo a surgery at SIUT Karachi today. His dialysis process has been pending for more than a week due to infection in the tube.
The philanthropist is expected to return home by evening today.
He was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2013 but has been unable to get a transplant due to weak health.
Few days back, Edhi declined an offer by former president Asif Ali Zardari for treatment abroad in favour of treatment in Pakistan.
PPP Senator Rehman Malik visited Edhi in hospital with Zardari’s proposal of treatment abroad.
Edhi, however, declined the offer with a simple gesture, indicating he prefers to receive treatment in Pakistan.
