LAHORE (Web Desk) – At least four persons died and seven others were injured due to roof collapse in Lahore after heavy rain lashed different parts of the city today (Tuesday), Dunya News reported.

According to rescue officials, the incident occurred on Multan Road.

Poorly built homes across Pakistan, particularly in rural areas, are susceptible to collapse during rainy seasons. Severe weather in recent years has killed hundreds and destroyed huge tracts of prime farmland.

During the rainy season last summer, torrential downpours and flooding killed more than hundred people and affected thousands of people across the country.

According to Met Office, rain with isolated heavyfalls accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, divisions, FATA, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

This year, summer monsoon rainfall is likely to be 10-20% above normal over the country, averaged for three months.

More than average rainfall is expected over Punjab, KP, Sindh, AJK and Northeast Balochistan.
