Nisar orders Sindh govt to investigate promotion of suspects' videos on media
PEMRA shall be asked to come up with a code, procedure to curtail such happenings in future: Nisar
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday ordered Sindh government to investigate the promotion of the videos of detained suspects on media, reported Dunya News.
Nisar stated that the promotion of such videos was illegal and immoral, adding that the decision of the cases involving promotion of such suspects must be made in the courts, not by media trial. Interior Minister said that unnecessary promotion of the suspects’ videos weakens the cases instead of strengthening them.
He wrote a letter to the Sindh government demanding that investigation be carried out in regards to the matter to find out which investigation agency is behind such incidents.
Furthermore, Nisar stated that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) shall be asked to formulate a code and procedure to curtail such happenings in future.
