ATC rejects Dr Asim's bail

Dr Asim's lawyers were unable to prove that terrorists didn't receive treatment in his hospital
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday rejected the bail of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr Asim on accounts of the inability of his lawyers to prove through their arguments that terrorists did not underwent medical treatment in his hospital, reported Dunya News.
Dr Asim, Qadir Patel and Usman Moazzam were not present in the court when the hearing of the case regarding the treatment of terrorists and providing them asylum was undergoing.
The court declared that medical bills and other evidences prove that the terrorists were treated in Dr Asim’s hospital thus resulting in the rejection of his bail.
Anwar Mansoor Khan, Dr Asim’s lawyer, criticised the court’s decision and termed it as a default judgement.
Co-accused Wasim Akhtar, Rauf Siddiqui and Anees Qaimkhani were not present in the court when the court rejected Dr Asim’s bail.
The court declared that if the suspects do not appear before the court till 01:30 pm then orders regarding their arrest shall be given and their bail will be cancelled. However all the suspects presented themselves before the court later.
