Tahirul Qadri to meet Sheikh Rasheed, summons party's core committee meeting

PAT leader has returned to the country after eight months.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri reached Model Town area of Lahore in form of a rally on Wednesday.

He has summoned a meeting of party’s central core committee in the evening and will also meet Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML), Sheikh Rasheed.

Dr Tahirul Qadri will invite Sheikh Rasheed to attend the protest due to be held on Mall Road on June 17 against the alleged corrupt government.

He will also exchange views with the AML leader regarding the political gap with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

Moreover, the joint framework of oppositions’ Terms of References (ToRs) will also be discussed.

He was welcomed by party followers at Allama Iqbal International Airport who showered rose petals at their leader while set pigeons free.

While talking to media, he said that two years have gone by and nothing has been done regarding Model Town tragedy that claimed 14 lives and injured around 100.

He commended Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s efforts to curb terrorism and asked him to take action of the ‘terror attack’ in Model Town on June 14.

He also talked about government’s alleged suppression and said that the culprits behind Model Town tragedy are in government which is delaying justice.

In early 2013, Tahirul Qadri staged a massive anti-government protest in Islamabad which brought the city to a standstill.
