Ex-MD PEPCO Tahir Basharat Cheema taken to hospital with 'heart trouble'

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Former managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Tahir Basharat Cheema was rushed to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) last night after suffering a ‘heart problem’ under the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Dunya News reported.

Cheema was arrested by NAB last month over misuse of his powers.

At the moment, the ex-MD PEPCO is being treated at intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Investigation officer last month had maintained during the case hearing that the ex-MD resorted to graft and illegally recruited nearly 500 employees. He said that Cheema gave different contracts to private companies and earned millions of rupees through unlawful means.

Cheema’s arrest is the biggest apprehension made by the accountability bureau in Punjab in the recent past.
