Faisalabad: ultimatum to end gas loadshedding

Dunya News

Textile associations of Faisalabad have given a two-day ultimatum to the federal government to end the load shedding of gas after which the schedule of protest would be announced, Dunya News reported on Thursday. At least four industrial associations, including Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Pakistan Textile Exporter Association and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, have rejected the three-day gas loadshedding schedule given by the government. According to the industrialists even one day gas load shedding causes at least one million dollar loss to the industry. More or less 50 percent industries in Faisalabad are already closed due to the energy crisis and now the gas loadshedding has proved as the last nail in the coffin of industry. According to the office bearers of the associations, it was agreed in a meeting with the prime minister that gas loadshedding schedule would be applicable on every part of the country but now only Punjab is being targeted and three-day load shedding is being carried out in the province. On the other hand at least 0.3 million workers have been rendered jobless during the last two days.
