AD Khawaja says investigation of officers behind illegal recruitments being done by NAB

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Inspector General (IG) police AD Khawaja admitted before the Sindh Assembly Standing committee on Interior that 1800 illegal recruitments have been made in the police, adding that investigation of the matter is being carried out, reported Dunya News.

The meeting of the Standing committee was led by chairman Syed Awais Shah. Sindh IG police and other officials belonging to the police department attended the meeting. IG police admitted that illegal recruitments were made but rejected information regarding procurement of fuel to be used in helicopters or planes. He did, however, admit that irregularities were made for the purchase of fuel to be used in cars, adding that most of the cars in the security zones are along with the politicians thus needing extra fuel because of extensive travelling.

Sindh IG requested the committee to increase the budget of the police, adding that the investigation of the officers involved in illegal recruitments is being made by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Standing committee chairman Syed Awais Shah issued show-cause notice to Sukkur Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police upon his absence from the meeting.
