Kumar was taken in custody from Haripur on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Court has handed over Krishan Kumar, male nurse at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on three-day physical remand in 20-year-old disabled girl’s rape case, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Kumar was presented before the court today in the federal capital where the law enforcement agency requested for a seven-day remand.

The male nurse is accused of raping a disabled patient while under treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Saturday night at 2am. The administration of the hospital had vowed to take stern action and conduct an inquiry.

The administration had suspended Kumar with immediate effect after it learnt about the crime.

On Tuesday, Kumar was taken into custody from Haripur while inquiry committee stated that DNA test of the victim came negative.

Medics have said that it is impossible to prove a rape after four days. The symptoms could only be visible if tests are conducted within 24 to 36 hours.

Doctors have dispatched the report to Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaurdhry.

Mother of the violated girl had moved a complaint to hospital’s administrator, Fazal Maula earlier.

However, on Tuesday it was reported that the administration did not carry out timely medical tests of the victim and bed sheets were replaced by the staffers.

Owing to delay, the DNA test came negative and the hospital’s authorities decided to conduct another test.

The second DNA test also failed to prove rape whereas family of the disabled girl is asserting that Kumar had raped her.

The disbaled victim hails from Swat and is under treatment at PIMS Intensive Care Unit for past two months.
