APC held in Sindh CM House over reservations on census process
He said that they are hopeful that federation will accept their representative.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – All Parties Conference (APC) regarding the reservations on census was conducted on Sunday in Chief Minister (CM) House in Sindh.
While inaugurating the conference, CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah stated that they were neither told not asked for the census commissioner and was proposed by the Sindh government forcibly.
He said that they are hopeful that federation will accept their representative.
Qaim Ali Shah was of the view that they were not taken into confidence on the formation of the commission for the census due to which they have expressed reservations on the matter.
He suggested that better arrangements should be made for the census and should not be delayed.
However, CM Sindh complained that representation of the provinces in the census commission is not equivalent.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had a chance to conduct census in 2008 whereas it can also take credit in 2009 but failed to do so.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Arif Alvi suggested that assistance should be taken from satellite images in this regard whereas Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Muzaffar Hussain Shah said that the census is being asked to be completed in three days which is not possible.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Nihal Hashmi stated that all the parties should complete homework on the census.
Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party (STP) chairman Dr Qadir Magsi said that the month of March is not suitable for conducting census.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Asadullah was of the view that the census process must be transparent and neutral.
Awami Tehreek’s Ayaz Lateef Palejo stated that Sindh comprises of 33 percent of Pakistan’s population however if its population is shown as six to seven crore then the census will not be accepted.
