Peshawar: Doctors protest against MTI Act, patients unattended at LRH
Patients remained unattended for the whole day due to medical staff's protest
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar protested on Wednesday against Medical Teaching Institutes (MTI) Act, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, the medical staff of the hospital started the protest, due to which patients remained unattended for whole day while doctors and nurses were chanting slogans outside hospital. Many patients were scheduled for operations today but operation theatres remained closed and patients kept waiting for their treatments.
Young Doctors Association representative Dr Musa Kaleem said that the protests and strikes will be extended across the province if their demands were not fulfilled immediately.
Doctors protested until noon and then dispersed peacefully giving deadline of a week to the government. They said that hospitals of the whole province will shut down after a week if their demands will not be met.
