Sindh govt submitted report on causes of children's deaths due to diarrhea, pneumonia in province

ISLAAMABD: (Dunya News) – Sindh government has on Tuesday submitted the report in Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the causes of children’s deaths in the province due to diarrhea and pneumonia. The report cited malnutrition as one of the reasons of the deaths, reported Dunya News.

According to the report, poverty, ignorance and food shortage were the main reasons due to which the children suffer from these fatal diseases. The written answer submitted in the Supreme Court says that poverty, poor sanitation and food shortage are the major reasons of the diseases.

The report says that children aged below 5 die mainly due to diarrhea and pneumonia, caused by ignorance, contaminated water, pollution and food shortage.

The report further stated that Food Support Program has been initiated while the people are now being educated about the issues. It also said that the capacity of the Health department employees is also being improved. According to the report, 1600 Basic Health Units are also working in the province under United Nations’ (UN) Global Action Plan.
