Rainwater drained, power supply to several areas restored after Karachi downpour

At least 58 feeders of Karachi Electric company had tripped last night

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rainwater has drained by Tuesday morning from most of the roads while almost all feeders that had tripped after the shower have been restored.

Stagnant water on MA Jinnah Road near Tibet Centre has not drained yet.

According to K-Electric Spokesperson, teams are ready to ensure uninterrupted supply of power owing to expectancy of rains in coming days. He urged the locals to report broken wires immediately while stay away from electricity poles.

On the other hand, Meteorological Department (Met) has stated that Faisal Base saw four millimeter rain, 3.5 mm in Landhi, 3.1 in Gulistan Johar, 1.8 mm in North Karachi, 1.2 mm at the airport while 1 mm in Saddar area.

On Monday night, the provincial government had declared rain emergency due to downpour. Five vehicles parked on a road under construction in North Nazimabad sank and citizens had to tow the cars on their own.



Local administration sprang into action as numerous areas of the city were flooded with rainwater. Apart from the difficulties, citizens were delighted as temperatures dropped in Karachi.

Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro paid visits to different areas and reviewed the situation.



Officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and District Metropolitan Corporation (DMC) were instructed to fixx the issues on immediate basis.

K-Electric s glitches in the past had caused issues for the locals every now and then however, the company vowed to better its performance.
