Local injured by police firing in Karachi's Gizri dies in hospital
Police opened fire after Shehryar did not stop at a check post
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Local who was injured by police firing after he did not stop at a Gizri check post has succumbed to wounds, Dunya News reported Monday.
Police allegedly carried out an operation in Gizri area on Sunday night resultantly, Shehryar was injured.
The local was admitted to a nearby hospital and succumbed to injuries in early Monday hours.
Earlier on Sunday, police in Karachi opened fire and critically wounded a motorcyclist when he apparently did not stop at a police check post in Khayaban-e-Tanzeem area of Gizri.

He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition. Shehryar’s family reached the hospital and staged a protest against fake police encounter.
A friend of Shehryar who is an eye-witness has revealed that police opened fire when he failed to stop at the check post.
After demonstration by victim’s family, police have arrested two cops, Mudassar and Hamza involved in the incident.

A case has been registered against them in the Gizri Police Station.
A report that was issued later today states that Shehryar was shot from at least nine feet to ten feet distance. The report also states that the victim died of a bullet in head.
Police attempt to calm protesting family outside Jinnah Hospital on Sunday night
Earlier on January 1, police gunned down a student who had returned from Malaysia after completing his education just six days before in an alleged encounter in Gizri area.
The police had claimed that the late student was a criminal involved in street crimes.
Dunya News had obtained passport of the returning student. He had completed his education in Malaysia and returned almost a week ago.
Gizri police also claimed to have arrested an accomplice. Bereaved family said that the 25-year-old was martyred in a fake encounter.
