Polling for second phase of LB elections underway in Islamabad
The polling would be continued till 5pm in the evening.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Polling for second phase of local bodies election on as many as 27 seats in federal capital Islamabad is underway today (Saturday).
According to details, the polling was started at 9am on special seats of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation including farmers, women, youth, minorities and technocrats.
At least 62 candidates are contesting in the polls while as many as 50 voters will exercise voting right.
On this occasion, tight security arrangements have been made to ensure fair and transparent polling while thousands of security personnel have also been deployed in the capital for the purpose.
The polling would be continued till 5pm.

According to the results of first phase, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) got 20 seats while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was able to snatch 16 seats only.
The first local bodies election in the history of Islamabad were held in 50 Union Councils (UC). ECP statistics show that PML-N won 20 seats of chairmen UC and vice chairmen UC while PTI could win 16 seats. On the other hand, from 14 UCs chairmen and vice chairmen were independent candidates.

PML-N is now in the position to win the mayor-ship of Islamabad with 20 seats. To get the majority position, PML-N has to make 6 independent candidates their ally.
A total number of 6,80,612 registered voters exercised their right to vote in LB elections in the federal capital out of which 3,67,960 are male voters and 3,12,652 female voters. At least 2,396 candidates are
