Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country with great religious fervor, simplicity and festivity amid tight security arrangements, Dunya News Saturday reported. Big Eid prayer congregations held in all the small and big cities of the country. Special arrangements were made in open grounds and mosques for Eid prayers including Badshahi Mosque Lahore and Memon Masjid Banori Town Karachi. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and PML (N) leader Nawaz Sharif offered prayer in Jati Umra Raiwind. Police contingents were deployed outside mosques and Imam Bargahs and people were allowed to go in after thorough search. Police officials have also been deployed in Bazaars, shopping centers, public places and official and important buildings. The police and rangers will keep patrolling at important and sensitive spots. On the other hand President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani greeted the nation on the occasion of Eidul Fitr and urged people to step forward and help the victims of the recent floods and terrorist attacks. I wish to call upon the countrymen to spread out and assist in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of our grief and calamity-stricken brethren whose lives have been devastated by the historys worst natural disaster, President Zardari said in his Eid message. Zardari said a festive occasion had relevance only when celebrations were genuinely shared with many. We therefore cannot celebrate the day with traditional fanfare and festivities when millions of our countrymen have been rendered shelterless as villages, towns and cities have been destroyed, the president said. PM Gilani in his Eid message urged citizens not to forget their fellow countrymen who had been affected by the worst natural disaster in the countrys history. This years Eid is being celebrated on such a moment of history, when a large part of country is under the devastation caused by floods before Ramazan. Our millions of fellow countrymen are homeless and facing severe difficulties, Gilani said. The PM said, Your love and empathy will help address their miseries and pains. Reconstruction of the devastated towns, destroyed houses and the rehabilitation of flood affected people is our foremost priority and national obligation.
