Touched by Nawaz's gesture to welcome me at Lhr airport and then coming to bid farewell, says Modi

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pakistan today (Friday) to wish Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif birthday and also attended the wedding ceremony of PM’s granddaughter on this occasion at Jati Umra, Nawaz Sharif’s residence. Upon reaching New Delhi, he thanked PM of his hospitality and said he was moved by his gesture to personally welcome him at the airport, reported Dunya News.

In his tweets about the visit, Narendra Modi said that he spent a warm evening with Sharif family at their home and it became a double celebration since it was birthday of Pakistan PM and also the wedding of his granddaughter.

He added that Nawaz Sharif recalled his meeting with the former Indian PM, and a leader of Modi’s political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), back in 1999. He said that Nawaz Sharif’s affection towards Atal Bihari Vajapyee and asked him to convey his regards to ‘Atal ji’.

He went on to say that he was personally touched by PM Nawaz Sharif’s gesture to personally welcome him at Lahoreairport and then coming again to the airport when he left.
