International Human Rights Day being observed today

Government is committed to the promotion and implementation of human rights, says president Mamnoon.
(Web Desk) - The world is observing Human Rights Day today (Thursday).
It commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This year s Human Rights Day is devoted to the launch of a year-long campaign for the 50th anniversary of the two International Covenants on Human Rights: the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 16 December 1966.
On Human Rights Day, let us recommit to guaranteeing the fundamental freedoms and protecting the human rights of all. -- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
UN president’s slogan – human rights for all – is not applicable to the poor, weak and vulnerable section of the society as many of the people in under developed countries are facing problems.
On the occasion, president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain said today we are celebrating the International Human Rights Day with a renewed determination to promote and protect Human Rights at all levels.
He said the present Government is committed to the promotion and implementation of all these provisions incorporated in the Constitution of Pakistan and international instruments.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui said we are committed to the protection and promotion of Human Rights and implementation of all provisions of national and international instruments related to Human Rights. He said we are making efforts to curb the menace of terrorism to ensure peace and full protection of Human Rights.
