PTI announces intraparty elections

The PTI chief reiterated the determination to take the party to all areas
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday announced to hold fresh intraparty elections and a 7-member committee has been formed in this regard, Dunya News reported.
PTI chief Imran Khan said he wants to transform the party into an institution, adding that the workers will directly elect their representatives.
Talking to the media after Advisory Council’s session, Khan told the press that a seven-member committee has been formed and that the date for the intraparty elections will be decided after consultations.
The PTI chief said the elections will be direct and the workers will elect their representatives. “PTI is not a family party like others”, he said. “Party will remain an institution even when I’m not around”.
Imran Khan claimed the local body elections were rigged, while also terming them ‘accountability’ for his party. He also admitted weaknesses within on various occasions.
The PTI chief reiterated the determination to take the party to all areas. Briefing the media, PTI vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi told the press that the reasons of PTI candidates’ defeat in the local body polls were also reviewed in the meeting.
He said the objective is not to obtain mayorship, adding that they won’t shut their eyes over Karachi situation. The PTI leader also expressed satisfaction over party’s performance in Multan.
PTI, despite its vocal claims, failed to secure sizeable seats in the local body elections in Punjab and Sindh. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) remained clearly victorious in Punjab while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Sindh.
