The petition was submitted by Shahid Orakzai.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A petition submitted in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday states that Rs 341 billion relief package announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for farmers cannot be approved without permission of the National Assembly.

Petitioner Shahid Orakzai stated that introduction of a supplementary budget is mandatory for this package. There is no room for payment of such huge amount without the supplementary budget.

He requested the court to immediately bar payment of this package.

Meanwhile, Justice Athar Minallah directed the registrar office to remove objections on the petition and set date for hearing of the petition.

It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition parties have also rejected the relief package for farmers, terming it pre-poll rigging ahead of the local government elections.
