ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday condemned recent drone strikes in Shawal area of North Waziristan, which result in a number of casualties.

In a press release, the Foreign Office stated that such strikes are in disregard of our territorial sovereignty and international law and these strikes also generate distrust among the local populace.

"We reiterate our call for cessation of such strikes," the FO said.

On Tuesday, at least six people were killed in a US drone strike in Shawal area of North Waziristan tribal region. The officials say the identity of those killed has not yet been determined.

The Pakistani military has been battling militants in Shawal as part of an offensive launched in June 2014 in North Waziristan, a longtime stronghold of al-Qaida and other armed groups along the Afghan border.
