ECP members should not resign till verdict of Supreme Judicial Council, said the statement

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) refused to submit their resignations under pressure from opposition parties on Monday. ECP said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Lawyers Forum has filed a reference to which Supreme Court will respond, reported Dunya News.

ECP held a meeting to discuss the demand of resignations by opposition parties. It was agreed in the meeting that ECP members are being systematically discredit by the baseless allegations. PTI Lawyers Forum has filed a reference against the ECP members. According to article 209, the lawful way is to file a reference in Supreme Judicial Council, said ECP.

The statement issed by ECP read that ECP members should not resign till verdict of Supreme Judicial Council.
