Indo-Pak talks canceled, Foreign Office says

It has been made clear to India that no preconditions can be accepted, FO said said
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Office on Saturday made it clear that no preconditions of India for talks will be accepted in any case, adding that conditional talks will be meaningless, Dunya News reported. The Foreign Office said the talks have therefore been canceled.
According to Foreign Office spokesman, the remarks of Indian Foreign Minister have been reviewed in detail and that they have concluded there is no use of National Security Advisers meeting with preconditions in place.
He said it has been made clear to India that no preconditions can be accepted, adding that India cannot keep talks suspended forever in light of one or two isolated events.
The Foreign Office said terrorism has always been part of the 8-point negotiation agenda and that it doesn’t suit India to set preconditions as to what topics will be discussed and when.
The spokesman further said the purpose of talks between India and Pakistan has to be reduce tension and confidence building. He said several of Indian allegations against Pakistan have turned out to be false.
