Karachi targeted killings claim five more lives

At least five people were killed in different incidents of targeted killings in Karachi, bringing the death toll in incidents of targeted killing to 29 in the last four days. Following the attack, unidentified miscreants also, the violent protesters set ablaze cars and buses. Several roadside stalls and a shop were set ablaze.Tension gripped the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area after unidentified armed men stormed a unit office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and opened fire, killing at least two activists while leaving five injured. Residents were forced to stay in their houses.All commercial and private activities were shut down in Sharah-e-Faisal, Safoora Goth, Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Jauhar Morr and other adjacent area. Heavy contingent of law enforcers rushed to the affected areas but they were unable to restore the law and order situation as aerial firing was also reported in the respective areas.Muttahida Quami Movement MQM chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the incident and requested the activist to stay calm. MQM Rabita Committee has demanded for an immediate inquiry into the killings of its activists.Interior Minister Rehman Malik has constituted a joint committee to look into the matter. Sindh ANP President Shahi Syed has also requested ANP activist to remain calm.
