Pending salaries: Lady health workers end protest after ministers' assurance

Qaim Ali Shah has allocated a special grant for lady health workers' salaries, says Jam Mehtab

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Lady health workers on Tuesday have demonstrated protests outside Sindh High Court (SHC) and Arts Council against unnecessary delay in provision of pending salaries.

Women police kept protesters from entering the Sindh Assembly. A worker fell unconscious during the protest. However, Education Minister Nisar Khuhro and Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Dahar carried out successful negotiations upon which the protest ended.

The protesters gathered outside Karachi Press Club and carried demonstration further to the SHC. The police, however, barred the lady workers from entering premises of the assembly. Mehtab, while negotiating said that provision of salaries was delayed due to wait for transference of money from federation.

Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah has allocated a special grant for lady health workers’ salaries, he added. The Health Minister further said that after approval of grant, the workers would get salaries on first of every month.

Khuhro said that provision of salaries to health workers in federation’s matter.
