General David Petraeus, commander of the NATO forces in Afghanistan called on Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani on Monday. Both the officials exchanged views over regional situation, the anti-terrorism campaign and the presence of militants in tribal areas, especially in North Waziristan. It merits to mention that this is the first meeting of General David Petraeus with the COAS Kayani after assuming the command of NATO forces in Afghanistan. The coming Parliamentary elections of Afghanistan and the negotiations policy with Taliban was also discussed in the meeting. Earlier, Kayani met with US envoy Anne Patterson and discussed views of common interest.
